NEW BMXV MINI WHEELER COORDINATOR
BMX Victoria is pleased to announce Giancarlo Bonfiglio as the Mini Wheel Coordinator for Victoria.
Giancarlo has experience delivering sports programs to school (Kinder to Year 6) children through the Australian Sports
Commission Active After Sports initiative. The main aim of the Mini Wheel coordinator is to promote the category to the
community and facilitate event management.
The Mini Wheeler class engages young children and offers a development pathway to the main BMX categories to grow

IMPORTANT MILESTONE: BMX VICTORIA HAS BROKEN THE 1000* MEMBER LEVEL
Achieving 1000 members is an important milestone for BMX Victoria. This goal has been achieved ahead of the schedule in our
strategic plan. BMX Victoria has seen strong growth in the past year. Our growth rate has been significantly higher than our
objective of increasing membership by 10% per year.
Several initiatives have been implemented to grow grass roots and broaden our membership base:
- Victorian Schools Cycling Championship
- 4 month license membership scheme
- National Sign On Day
- Mini Wheeler Class
BMX Victoria is addressing rider development to provide progressive competition so every participant is able to achieve their potential. Improvements will be introduced into 2014 BMX Victoria Junior State Series.
Additionally BMX Victoria is currently undertaking a strategic review of coaching structure to provide coaching for all levels.
With Improved development pathways and racing structure, BMX Victoria has the potential to grow well beyond 1500+ members

2013 DYNAMITE & CRACKERJACK ROUNDS
BMX VICTORIA is proud to announce the 2013 Dynamite and Crackerjack Series schedule>>:
BEGINNER BMX COACHING COURSE #2 | DATE CHANGE
Three more Beginner Coach courses have been scheduled, all starting at 9am with the aim to finish by 6pm.
This course is the first step to becoming a coach. All clubs are required to have at least a Beginner Coach in order
to introduce new riders to the basics of riding a track safely. Read further here>>
To avoid a clash with the BMXA Nationals, the date Beginner Coaching #2 at Warrnambool has been rescheduled
to 14 April 2012.
BMX MINI WHEELERS CLASS FOR 2 to 4 year olds
BMX Australia has introduced a new BMX Mini Wheelers class.BMX Mini Wheelers is a new fun introductory level class
for young riders on balance bikes.
BMX Victoria encourages clubs to have a "mini wheel coordinator" to liaise with riders / parents and promote best practice.

Member Protection Information Officer Training
Sport and Recreation Victoria is providing opportunities for BMX Victoria members to undertake MPIO training to support their
commitment to fair, safe and inclusive sporting environments. BMX Victoria is requesting expressions of interest from members
who consider they have the aptitude and skills to effectively fulfil an MPIO role for either the state or their club. To become an MPIO,
participants must be nominated by BMX Victoria, complete seven online modules (at a time to suit themselves) and participate in a
3.5 hour face-to-face training programs.
The course is FREE and catering provided. For more details see the following:
‘BALANCE IN BMX’ GRANTS AVAILABLE TO BMXV CLUBS TO PROMOTE FEMALE PARTICIPATION
BMX Victoria & Cycling Victoria are pleased to offer clubs the opportunity to apply for a Balance in BMX (BIB) Grant.
BIB Grants are being offered to assist clubs attempting to increase the participation of females in BMX. There are
grants of up to $750 on offer, for clubs who develop an initiative aiming to increase the participation of females in all aspects of BMX.

OWNERSHIP OF PERSONAL TRANSPONDERS AS OF JANUARY 2013
As of January 2013 all BMXV Open licence holders competing at major race meetings will be expected to have their

BMXV CLUB CONTACT DETAILS
With the expansion of database services being rolled out by Cycling Australia (BMX Australia) it is increasingly important that
CA/BMXA have up to date contact information for all their member clubs, and soon when online membership starts it will be
even more important. Please would all BMXV Clubs fill out a copy of the 'BMXA CLUB OFFICE BEARERS,CONTACT DETAILS' form
which is available for download from this site under ‘Forms’ and send a copy to Cycling Australia. Also under ‘Forms’ is a
‘BMXV Club Contacts Update’ form which should be returned to us, for example, when there have been changes to your Club
Committee. Please remember that if your Club’s banking details change, the BMXV Treasurer accounts@bmxv.com.au needs
to be informed to facilitate reimbursement of online entry money.
Availability of online entry for clubs: Please read the attached information regarding the availability of online entries for clubs.
Victorian Race Numbers: All Victorian riders have allocated race numbers. Please check out yours in the list attached on the Administration page and
make sure you ride with it.
Working With Children Checks: All volunteers in our sport need to have passed a Working With Children Check (WWCC), . It is both a legal
requirement and a requirement of our Insurers that all our volunteers and officials have passed their WWCC by 30th June 2010. The time to apply is now. The
best place to get information is at the Victorian Government website www.justice.vic.gov.au/workingwithchildren
