Extra Open Meeting for Wyndham Warriors BMX Club

Wyndham’s 2010 Open Meeting that was originally set for the weekend of the 13^{th and 14th} of November was cancelled due to poor weather.  The club postponed their meeting until the week after, which was the week prior to the 20110 DK Bicycles Victorian Open Championships.

As this event was now very close to the Titles, the Board of BMX Victoria cancelled the Dynamite round, which was to be held in conjunction with this Open meeting.  The Board of BMX Victoria is of the belief that the cancelling of this Dynamite round had a severe impact on Wyndham’s open meeting.

With this in mind, the BMX Victoria board has offered the Wyndham Warriors BMX Club an extra Open meeting date in the 2011 calendar. The Wyndham club has decided that they will run this Open Meeting on the weekend of April 16 and 17. The BMX Victoria State Team will also run a coaching clinic at the Wyndham Warriors club.

Interclub: It was recently released that the Interclub meeting would be moving from its traditional October date. The EMG of BMX Victoria feels this race meet, which is a wonderfully fun and enjoyable meet, is no longer a good trial event for the Victorian Open BMX Championships.  As of October 2011 we will now run a true Pre Titles event, this has been now placed in the 2011 race calendar.

The interclub will not be lost to racing here in Victoria. It will now find a home with the Royal Children’s Hospital Race meet that we run each year. These two race meets are ideal for each other. Both are fun and enjoyable meets that allow all competitors to race in a far more relaxed atmosphere than a traditional open meeting.

Because of the timeframe involved in setting up the interclub and the fact that the 2011 Royal Children’s Hospital meeting is set to be run on the first weekend in February. The EMG has taken the move to cancel the interclub meeting for 2011. This is going to allow us more time to make sure we get the RCH/Interclub merger right.  We want to look at what is the best time in the year to run this meet and make sure all the organization that goes into these two meets is what it needs to be.

The 2011 Royal Children’s Hospital meet will be run on February the 6^{th at the Lilydale BMX Club. Entry forms will be on the BMXV website in coming weeks.}

Due to severe flooding at the Lilydale BMX track overnight, tomorrow's BMXA Flood Appeal meeting has been cancelled.
The plan is to re-schedule it , but no date is set yet.  We will send out more information as it comes to hand.

Change to RCH Meeting

The past weeks have truly been a devastating period for many Australians.  The floods have affected many states and have brought huge damage to a number of BMX Clubs through out the country. With this in mind BMX Australia are putting together an appeal for funds to help out these BMX Clubs. BMX Australia has asked clubs to hold a riders unite day on Sunday the 30^{th of January. BMX Australia is urging clubs to have a clubby on this day to raise funds for this cause. A registration form is on the BMXA website}

BMX Victoria have decided to change the RCH Appeal race meeting to be held at the Lilydale club on the 6^{th of February into the BMX Australia Flood Appeal Race Meeting. All money raised from this race meeting will be donated to this fund.} 

BMX Victoria has already raised over $1600 during Track Attack for this appeal and we would like to raise a lot more. 

It is important that we try and help these clubs get back on their feet. Our sport is one of the greatest family sports in this country and it is important that we all help our sporting family out.

Rider’s Rider Press Release

This year BMX Victoria will be presenting a Riders Rider award as part of the 2010 Rider of the Year Awards. This award will be voted on by members of BMX Victoria.  Voting for the award will take place on Saturday the 15^th of January at Eastfield’s first round of Track Attack.  When rider’s register they will be given a voting slip.  All they need to do is fill a name out on it and place in the Ballot Box.

GT BMX Track Attack 2011 series: Revised closing date for online entry

The closing date for online entry for the GT BMX Track Attack 2011 series has now been extended from the original 7^th January.

People wishing to do an online entry for the whole series now have until 7pm on Wednesday 12^th January 2011 to do so.

The closing date for online entry for individual rounds of the GT BMX Track Attack 2011 series is unchanged: you can enter online for individual rounds up until 5pm the day before that round, but as per the Series rules you will be slotted into classes already constituted at the close of Series Entries.

Postal entries still close on Friday 7^th January. All postal entries must be received with payment by then.

Rider of the year awards and tickets: Tickets for the BMXV Rider of the Year Awards night, to be held at the Jika International 551 Heidelberg Rd Fairfield Vic 3078 on Saturday the 12^th of February 2011, will be on sale at all Track Attack rounds.  This year tickets need to be purchased before the night.  If you are not going to be at Track Attack but want to come please contact me using the information list below.

Tickets cost $40 each and this is for a 2-course meal.  All drinks will be at bar prices.

Awards presented will be Junior Rider of the Year, Senior Rider of the Year, Veteran Rider of the Year, Riders Rider and the Rider of the Year.  We will also be presenting the Dynamite Winners with their awards
