2020 has provided challenges for us in developing a calendar that gives every rider a chance to compete throughout the year, whilst maintaining enthusiasm.
Over the next couple of years, the Victorian State Championships will slowly be brought forward, towards the beginning of the year. Moving the event wasn't an easy decision. However, with the feedback received from the BMX members that attended the workshops, we believe that it’s the right decision to hold the event prior to the National Championships. We hope to achieve this in 2021 or 2022.
Some key points to note, that were considered in the development of the BMXV 2020 Race Calendar:
2020 is an Olympic year, therefore, the National Championships have been brought forward;
Two World Cup Rounds in February, meaning there will only be Opens Sunbury and Ballarat, held back to back;
2020 will see two double header weekends which include Frankston and Casey, and Warrnambool and Portland;
No racing will be held:
on the weekends of the ACT, Tasmania, and South Australian State Championships;
during school holidays;
on National Series rounds; and
on the Bathurst 1000 race weekend.
Shorter State Series incorporating three rounds in the first half of the year and three rounds in the second half of the year (more information to follow).
With a new exciting State Series and fresh ideas at Open race meets. We hope you can now, start planning your BMX year ahead.
2020 will be, a year of building teams, trophies, and friendships.
See you trackside
